Nandana's Tamil Manjal Neerattu Vizha: A Celebration of Tradition

On the ceremony day, the Tamil Manjal Neerattu Vizha, or "Turmeric Bathing Ceremony," took center stage. The women attending the event participated in this exquisite ritual, adorning Nandana's face, arms, and feet with a turmeric paste. Following the symbolic painting, the paste was washed away as water flowed through a unique colander.

Post the turmeric bath, Nandana received her first saree as a gift. Seated gracefully in her new attire, she became the focal point for the blessings and well-wishes showered upon her by attending family and friends who also presented gifts.

While busy capturing envisioned shots, I felt privileged to be part of such a beautiful ceremony. The experience was truly wonderful, and the final images reflect the uniqueness of this event, adding a special touch to my portfolio.
